In March 2011, we made a major modification to our SLAM trap bottom collector. Two 150-cm poles are added to the top of the funnel to better support the SLAM trap. Please note this change before making purchases.
The bottom collector is made to fit with our standard SLAM trap so that the SLAM trap can sample species (id est some Coleoptera) that fold their wings and drop after striking an obstacle. This bottom collector comes with a coarse mesh (3.6 cm by 3.6 cm grid) on top to stop large leaves and twigs from clogging the bottom collecting bottle.

Assembly
- Assemble standard SLAM trap (model #BT0508A, sold separately.)
- Assemble poles. Make sure ends are entirely inserted into joints.
- Push ends of one pole into pockets at diagonal corners of top of funnel.
- Repeat Step 3 with second pole and remaining pockets.
- Use sewn-in ribbons at each corner of standard SLAM trap to tie on cloth funnel.
